Hani: A Handwritten Font for Web Design

As a web designer, I'm always on the lookout for fonts that bring personality to digital projects without sacrificing clarity. Hani is one of those rare finds—a handwritten script font that feels both authentic and professional. After testing it across several website layouts, I can confidently say it’s a great addition to any design toolkit.

Testing Hani in Real Web Layouts

I first tried Hani on a hero section for a boutique online store. The font’s soft, flowing strokes gave the page a warm, inviting feel. It worked especially well with a light background and bold color accents. When paired with a clean sans serif for body text, the contrast was just right—Hani stood out as a visual anchor without overwhelming the design.

On mobile, Hani held up surprisingly well. Even at smaller sizes, the letterforms remained legible, though I’d recommend using it for short headlines rather than long paragraphs. It’s not ideal for dense blocks of text, but as a display font, it shines.

Using Hani for Digital Branding

For a coaching website, I used Hani in the header and CTA buttons. The font added a personal touch that matched the brand’s approachable tone. It felt like a friendly voice guiding users through the site. When overlaid on image banners, Hani retained its character without getting lost in the background.

I also tested it on a blog redesign project. As a heading font, it brought energy to each post title. However, I noticed that on dark backgrounds, some of the finer details in the letters were harder to read. For best results, I’d suggest using it on light or neutral backgrounds where it can really pop.

Font Pairing and Web Usability

One of Hani’s greatest strengths is how well it pairs with other fonts. I often use it alongside a simple sans serif for body copy. This creates a balanced look that’s both modern and readable. For editorial-style sites, pairing it with a serif font adds a classic, refined feel.

When working on a product landing page, I used Hani for the main headline and a bold call-to-action button. The font’s playful yet polished look made the page feel more engaging. It’s perfect for creative portfolios, course sales pages, and promotional campaigns where a human touch matters.

Best Uses for Hani in Web Design

Hani excels in areas where visual appeal and personality are key. It’s ideal for:

It’s less suited for long-form content, small navigation menus, or form labels. If you’re designing a dashboard or an interface with a lot of text, Hani might not be the best choice. But for anything that needs a touch of warmth and creativity, it’s a solid option.

Considerations for Web Projects

Before using Hani on a live site, make sure to check the available styles and weights. Some script fonts have limited options, which can affect your design flexibility. Also, verify that the font supports webfont formats like WOFF and WOFF2 for optimal performance.

If you’re planning to sell digital products or templates, ensure the licensing allows for commercial use. Hani’s versatility makes it a good fit for online stores, digital branding kits, and marketing materials. Just be mindful of its limitations when it comes to accessibility and readability on smaller screens.

Overall, Hani is a versatile and expressive font that brings a human element to web design. Whether you're building a creative portfolio, launching a new product page, or refreshing a brand’s digital presence, it’s worth considering for its charm and usability.
